Skizzen (parts)
For Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in A, Horn in F, Bassoon
By Jan Bach
The nine movements of SKIZZEN by Jan Bach have been inspired by line drawings of Heinrich Kley, the extraordinary German illustrator, who was born in 1863 in Karsruhe and produced the greater part of his work in the early 20th century. Kley was a cartoonist and illustrator who developed a bizarre personal style laden with elements of bitter attire, social irony and earthy humor. Animals and people intermingle in his drawings in strangely comic and poignant ways.
