The present Sonata for three flutes is especially well-suited for mastering ensemble playing in a chamber music setting. Quantz, the flute teacher of Frederick the Great, constantly urged musicians to take up ensemble playing and, in this Flute Trio, left behind to this end an easily accessible and thoroughly delightful piece of music.
