The Sonata per due flauti was composed in Oegstgeest in 1944, and was premiered on June 3 1947 by johan Bentzon and Carleton Sprague Smith at the ISCM festival in Copenhagen.  This new edition keeps closely to Escher's autograph, which is kept in the Haags Gemeentemuseum…The composer decided on faster tempi in 1980.  –Rien de Reede
