Sound the Trumpets by Henry Purcell
Arranged for 4 C Flutes by Carson Rothrock
Includes score and parts in both D and Eb
Purcell was born in 1659. He was recognized as England's greatest composer in his lifetime and for more than a hundred years after his death. This piece is from the cantata “Come ye Sons of Art” and was written as a birthday ode for Queen Mary. Henry Purcell apparently jokingly scored “Sound the Trumpet” with no trumpets.
