Top O' the Evening (an Irish Suite)
Arranged for Solo Piccolo by Laurence Trott
Duration: 8:50
Seven delightful pieces with an Irish flair!
The Irish are among the world's most musical people. Emigration to the “New World” began with the earliest Colonial settlements and has left an indelible impression on our own music.
One of the traditional Irish instruments is the tin whistle. Certainly the piccolo is the modern orchestra instrument which best approximates its sound and spirit. Performances of this highly expressive music traditionally included ornamentation, slides, and other personal inflections more natural to the whistle than the piccolo. The arranger has included some in the piece and please feel free to add your own.
1. The Humors of Glyn
2. Ned of the Hill
3. Donnybrook Fair
4. Whiskey in the Jar
5. Teresa Halpin's Reel
6. The Harp that once
7. Contented I am (or The Battle Eve)
