A Romantic composer, he was the master of character pieces for the piano. First published as part of a larger collection of 13 miniatures called Scenes from Childhood op15 in 1839, the first documented public performance was give in 1868 after the Schumann's death. The Traumerie is the middle piece of the collection, and is best known of all his compostions. The charming melody lingers in the memory, and is considered a Romantic gem.
