Trio Serenade composed by Peter Schickele
Written for two Flutes and Piano
Includes score and parts
“The atmospheres of the piece range from a gentle pastoral to a gutsy rustic dance. Some of the stops along the way seem to me to include a rather jazz-tinged Mexico, a mysterious jungle and a kaleidoscope. Or, to look at it another way: The simple song form of the first movement and the traditional dance with two trios and coda of the last movement are separated by a bouncy song with a somewhat improvisatory-sounding middle section, a slow, hushed long-noted melody with both halves repeated, and a study in very close canonic and quasi-canonic writing.” -Program Note by Peter Schickele
