Twelve Fantasies for Solo Flute by Georg Philipp Telemann
Edited by Maxence Larrieu
The works of Telemann are numerous and the flute is frequently used as a solo instrument in concerti, sonatas, etc. The 12 Fantasies for flute without bass are written in the style of studies, treating the problems of intervals and tone production. These problems solved, lyricism and the character of a dance suite develops. It is interesting to note the evolution of concept, style, and architecture from one Fantasia to another. Charm and virtuosity are marvelously exploited.
