Among the most famous works by Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805) is undoubtedly the Minuet from the String Quartet Op13 #5, whose popularity has been further boosted by the film “Lady Killers.” The innumerable arrangements of this piece bear witness to the celebrity of this minuet. The present arrangement for flute quartet is a welcome addition to ensemble literature for flute pupils studying in music schools or with private teachers. All parts are given an equal share of the musical activity, and the voice-leading motivically follows the source as closely as possible.
