6 of 8 Russian Folk Songs Anatoly Liadov
Arranged for Flute Ensemble by Dr. Raymond Pancost
Instrumentation: 3 c flutes, alto flute, bass flute, contrabass flute
Score and parts
Anatoly Lyadov, a Russian composer, who was born in St. Petersburg in 1855, wrote his “Eight Russian Folksongs” in 1906, eight years before his death in 1914. I have arranged six of the 8 Folksongs for Flute Ensemble in the original order: I, III, IV, V, VI, and VII. The Piccolo part is in only three of the 6 movements. The Piccolo player should join a flute part for the three tacet Piccolo movements. The tempo marks are only a suggestion; there are a wide range of tempos heard in the orchestral recordings. — Dr. Raymond Pancost
