“American Hoedown” is a light original composition for flute choir that is meant to portray the happiness and a quality of life in the U.S.A. This work has intergenerational appeal with cheerful and lively melodies as well as pleasing harmonies. There are memorable melodic lines, chords and short rhythms reminiscent of a western hoedown. A confident strong piccolo player is needed since there are many exposed lines throughout the composition. It is important for the ensemble to keep the energy of the music while maintaining a dynamic balance with the piccolo.
