The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba from the oratorio Solomon by George Frideric Handel (1685-1759)
Arranged for Flute and Piano by John Cipolla
Piano part edited by Hayes Biggs
The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba is the Sinfonia that introduces Act III of the oratorio Solomon by Handel. Throughout this arrangement the principle melodic lines consisiting of continuous sixteenth notes have been divided between the flute and the upper voice of the piano part, in order to allow the flutist space to breathe. In these instances, dashed lines have been placed between the flute line and the top staff of the piano part in order to indicate the continuation of the melody. The piano part has been adapted from the full score, with certain modifications to ensure its playability. The editors have added dynamic markings, slurs, articulations, and the metronome indication.
