Scored for one piccolo (doubling on flute) and 6 C flutes. The ideal number of players is twelve or more, but performance is possible with just six players. If the ensemble is standing, each player will need to have a flute peg at his/her side so that each head joint may be held with both hands while the body of the flute is on the peg. Clear measure – by – measure instructions are given for producing the effects required for each instrument.
