Berceuse Op. 22
Composed by Jules Mouquet
For flute and piano
Published by Henry Lemoine
A French composer, his main influences were the late Romantic and Impressionistic composers. This piece is dedicated to Phillippe Gaubert, and shows the romantic aspects a flute can create. A quote from Plato is offered as a way to interpret it, and it is to “sit under this hurled pine, harmonious with the breezes of the Zephyr, and you close to the to the enjoyment of the murmuring water, my flute will charm your eyelids into sleep”.
