Borealis by Alexandra Molnar-Suhajda, was commissioned by Debbie Gilbert for the Flute Society of Washington High School Flute Choir and was premiered at the 2020 Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention in Herndon, Virginia. Composed in two sections, the calm opening is marked “placidamente” followed by a fast section with soaring melodies over a crisp, staccato accompaniment.
