Duration: 3'30″
Includes score and parts

Instrumentation:
2 Piccolos
4 C Flutes
2 Alto Flutes
Bass Flute

About the Arrangement:
English composer Edward Elgar's premise for his “Variations on an Original Theme” was to musically characterize a dozen of his friends and associates – each variation is designated by the initials or pseudonym of the person portrayed (hence the enigma). The work, in its original guise for symphony orchestra, was premiered in 1899 and quickly established Elgar as one of the leading English symphonists of that time. This arrangment is scored for two piccolos, four c-flute parts, two alto flutes and bass flute. It may be performed effectively either one-on-a-part or with judiciuos doubling for a larger ensemble.
