Entry of the Gladiators by Julius Fucik
Arranged for 4 C Flutes by Bill Holcombe Jr.
Includes score and parts
Duration: 2:30
Known as the Bohemian Sousa, Fucik was a Czech composer and a conductor of military bands. A military march composed in 1897, Entry of the Gladiators is more well-known for being a screamer march, used in circuses to introduce the clowns. A famous recording of it is in the movie Mary Poppins – it is played on kazoo during the animated scene with the penguins. The melody is passed around through the parts, and an alto flute part is provided as a substitute for the fourth flute part.
