Description
Evocation for flute and clarinet by Stephen Barr
Includes score and parts
The word “evoke” has two meanings:
(1) to bring or to recall to the conscious mind or to elicit a response, as in to evoke memories of, say, one's childhood; and
(2) the act of calling or summoning a spirit or deity.
The music of this “evocation” does not attempt to do either in any concrete fashion, yet if while listening to it you are moved to daydream a bit, indulge in some flights of fancy, or commune with the infinite, no one will mind and we consider the piece successful in its intent.
