In this duo for flute and cello, Barbara Kolb explores and contrasts various pairings of musical extremes.  The most evident are the extremes of timbre represented by the flute and the cello and the contrast between the lyrical opening of the first movement and the rhythmic second movement.  The extremes are presented with intense succinctness in two uninterrupted vignette movements.
