Although his output was considerable, Faure reached the age of fifty without having written either an opera or any similarly large-scale work, and this fact led the musical public to underrate his stature as a composer.  Recognition eventually came to him late in life and, although handicapped by deafness, he continued to compose until his death in 1924.

Thil collection, taken from a wide range of his music, shows his wonderful gift for imaginative and beautiful melodies.
