He was a Spanish pianist and composer of classical music.  His music in uniquely Spanish in style, and is very representative of musical nationalism.   Originally written for piano in 1890, the four dances are from each of the four different volumes.  The dances are Villanesca, Andaluza, Orientale and Jota or Rondalla Aragonesa.
