Description
Latin Meets Classic
Composed by Gerhard Goebel
Written for Flute Choir or Flute Quintet
Published by Zimmermann
Includes score and parts
Instrumentation:
5 C flutes, with optional Alto flute and Bass flute
The title “Latin meets Classic” describes the basic idea behind this quintet: the composer tried to make his favorite Latin American rhythms from the 20th century meet with European rhythms from the Baroque and Rococo periods. For example, in the 1st movement a BACH motif 'winds its way' as a Mambo into the Tango , and the 2nd movement is a classic Menuet from the Mozart era, which is then recalled towards the end of the 3rd movement (Samba).
