He was a Spanish pianist and composer of classical music.  His music in uniquely Spanish in style, and is very representative of musical nationalism.  Originally for piano, this is the most famous of his 8 Valses Poetiques.  The short movements are Melodico; Tempo de valse noble; Tempo de valse lente; Allegro humoristico; Allegretto elegante; Sentimental (quasi ad libitum); Vivo, Presto and Melodico (Valse 1).
