Notes from the composer:
“Flock of birds, summerwind” was composed for a flute workshop held in Pori, Finland, in 1988. It's purpose is to give flutists of all ages and levels a chance to play together. The piece can be performed with unlimited number of flutists, though because of the division of the groups, there should be a minimum of 10 players.

Ensemble:
Flute 1: Very easy, played only with mouthpiece
Flute 2: easy
Flute 3: easy, slightly more demanding than flute 2
Flute 4: medium
Flute 5: medium, slightly more difficult than flute 4
