Written during one of Haydn’s visits to London, this was originally scored for two flutes or violins and cello. This arrangement can be performed in several combinations–3 C flutes, 2 C flutes and alto, 2 C flutes and bass flute or as a flute quartet of 2 C flutes with alto and bass flutes doubling up the third part. The first trio is in C, and the other three trio are in G. Each trio can be performed individually or as a complete piece.
