The Suite Algerienne of 1880 is comprised of four movements, the finale movement being a march which has become the most popular. The complete Algerian Suite incorporates references to traditional Arab melodies, with the finale ackowledging Algeria's absorption into metropolitan France during the long period of military colonization.
