Moonlight (“Ablakomba, ablakomba”), a Hungarian Traditional song arranged by Alexandra Molnar-Suhajda
This low-flute choir work is scored for two instrumentations, making it available to explore all the tonal colors of the lesser-known very low flutes, as well as being performable on more frequently-available altos, basses, and contrabass flutes.
Version A: 2 alto flutes, bass flute, bass flute in G, contrabass flute, subcontrabass flute in G
Version B: 3 alto flutes, 2 bass flutes, contrabass flute
A work written for an ensemble of the “lower” flutes premiered at the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair – both versions included. Duration: 3 minutes
