Morning Has Broken
Arranged for Flute Quartet or Flute Choir by Amy Rice-Young.
Score and parts
Instrumentation: 4 C flutes (optional bass flute for flute 4), or 5 C flutes (optional alto flute for flute 4, optional bass flute for flute 5)
‘Morning Has Broken’ is a traditional Gaelic hymn that is particularly popular in Presbyterian and Episcopal churches. The beautiful melody lends itself to the flute quite well. This arrangement is intended for flute ensembles of any age and ability level. It can be performed with as few as four flutists, or the parts may be doubled, adding alto and bass flute. Part 5 is optional, but when added, it serves to reinforce the lower voices. This music may also be used as accompaniment for a choir or congregation. The optional D.C. al Fine is intended to allow an extra verse.
