My Old Kentucky Home by Stephen Foster
Arranged for 4 C Flutes by Lisa Sherwood
Written by Stephen Foster, most likely in 1852, this popular song is known as the official state song of the state of Kentucky. It was originally called “Poor Uncle Tom, Good Night.” Some believe that Mr. Foster was visiting a relative's home in Bardstown, Kentucky, and received his inspiration for the song by spending time there. The more popular belief is that Stephen Foster was possibly influenced by the book Uncle Tom's Cabin.
This arrangement was created for Chamber Music with Flute's performance at the James A. Ramage Civil War Museum event, Battery Hooper Days 2012, in Fort Wright, Kentucky.
