The Paul Horn Peace Collection – Volume 1
Arranged for Flute Choir by Anthony Genge & Paul Horn
Transcribed by Sy Zucker
Scored for 3 C Flutes and Bass Flute, or 2 C Flutes, Alto Flute and Bass Flute
There are three individual pieces in this collection, and are arranged in contrapuntal style, allowing each part equal importance. Good King Wenceslas starts with a bass flute solo, and the piece should be played in a very legato style. Palestrina's Magnificat should be performed in a very legato style too, but it can be played faster at the discretion of the conductor. We Three Kings also begins with a bass flute solo, and, at letter B, flute 1 joins the bass flute. In the middle section , there are alternating 3/4 and 4/4 measures. This gives the melody a feeling of 7/4, and quarter note remains constant from the previous section.
