Commissioned by Nancy Spidel and the Colorado Flute Orchestra, this suite chronicles the historical development of the candy cane from Cologne Cathedral in the seventeenth century. With a pastoral bass flute melody in 5/8 time, this programmatic movement will sweeten up any Christmas time programme. A challenging yet tuneful work with interest in all parts.
