Scored for 3 C Flutes (Flute 2 doubles on Piccolo), Alto Flute Bass Flute
One of the most famous flute solos ever written, here is your chance to play it in a totally different way. Gudrun Hinze has masterfully arranged this for a flute quintet consisting of three C Flutes, Alto Flute and Bass Flute. The second flute doubles on Piccolo, and the third flute has the option to double on a Schnarrkopf-Flöte (or buzzing headjoint), which is explained further in the notes. A variety of timbres are explored throughout this masterwork and it has been recorded by Quintessenz, the Leipzig Flute Ensemble, of which Gudrun is a member.
