Summer Morning, Summer Afternoon is a perfect companion work to the Debussy Sonate. The piece has a similar feeling of happening out-of-doors. The easy, bucolic “then one morning” is followed by an energetic movement “later that day.” The piece makes a great program opener, or closer.
