Vignettes Balletiques
Composed by Brian DuFord
For Woodwind Quintet
Published by Cimarron Music Press
Includes score and parts
An American composer, this was written for and inspired by the Grammy nominated Borealis Wind Quintet. As its name suggests, it is a collection of varied balletic musical portraits. Since each movement, or more appropriately scene, can be visualized in a myriad of different ways, the work as a whole possesses no unifying programmatic theme. Rather than being literal representations, the chosen dance forms are points of departure, more or less, and are given relatively free treatment throughout the compostion. The movements are: March in the Style of a Tarantella; The Waltz of Capricious Children; A Light Pavanne for Two Dreaming Lovers; and The Nightclub: Mambo Dancers Burst onto the Scenes.
Instrumentation: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in Bb, Horn in F and Bassoon.
