This arrangement of a beautiful Irish carol is about three minutes in length and works with five C flutes, or with three C flutes, and alto & bass. Reported to be from the town of Enniscorthy in Ireland's County of Wexford, this carol has the distinction of being one of the oldest in the European tradition. It dates back to the twelfth century, and historically was sung by men only. It acheived new popularity in the early twentieth century, and is now found in almost every Christmas album of Celtic music.
