Program Notes:
Winter’s Journey is a reflection of winter’s beauty, not its harshness. The piece should be performed in a light, loving, lyrical manner and not too slowly. Measures 37 through 46 should give a feeling, as Edgar Allan Poe put it, of “crystalline delight.” Keep the momentum and be sure to hold back on the ritard until reaching the measures indicated.
