Score and parts
“America The Beautiful” is one of the most beautiful patriotic songs ever written and may be considered our nation’s favorite song. The melody is simple but yet so majestic. It is one of those songs that exuberates pride for our country. I have included two different versions of the song in this publication. Each is unique and different and will have varying uses for different kinds of performances. Version 1 is the shortest of the two arrangements. It is more traditional in style and straight forward. Version 2, on the other hand, is almost twice as long and totally different. This arrangement is more majestic in style, has an introduction, modulations and incorporates interludes between each of the four times you hear the melody.
This arrangement is extremely versatile in any flute choir as it is written in the expandable form. A quartet of C flutes will work successfully using the first four parts. As the other instruments are added or become available, they are used to expand the harmonic structure and/or introduce new counter melodies.
