An Italian composer, he was one of the most important keyboard composers in the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods.  Written in 1628, this piece is part of a group of 40 canzonas that explored the instrument with keyboard accompaniment.  The full title of the piece is Canzona detta “la Bernardinia”.  The flute carries the melody line, while the guitar is the continuo.
