French flautist, Marcel Moyse (1889-1984) studied at the Paris Conservatoire before becoming a renowned performer on the instrument. He was also responsible for training a brilliant generation of Flute players and his experiences and expertise combined have informed his adaptions to Varied Air by Jules Demersseman. 

Moyse's revisions to Demersseman's Varied Air are made accessible and versatile for the Flute and Piano. The work addresses advanced features, including complex rhythms, phrasing, tempo, breath control, articulation, intervals, range, and ornamentation, amongst other musical aspects. Varied Air for Flute is essential to a varied repertoire for advanced flautists.
