Kaleidoscope by Ann Cameron Pearce
Scored for 2 C Flutes, 2 Headjoints, and Boomwhackers (4 players using 5 boomwhackers each) or piano or xylophone
Following the success and popularity of “Serendipity” (FC-198), this work has the same instrumentation and depicts whirling patterns of sound that have symmetry but also change drastically and unpredictably. Loads of fun and many alternate performance possibilities exist.
Boomwhackers are tuned plastic tubes that can be struck against just about anything to produce a desired pitch. In the absence of these, a piano or xylophone may be used.
Specific performance and staging notes are included with the score.
