140 Short Exercises and Studies (140 Petits Exercices et Etudes) – Extracr from the Methode populaire – by Jean-Louis Tulou
Annotations and complements by Jean-Louis Beaumadier
For 1 or 2 Piccolos
How wonderful it is to flip through the pages of Jean-Louis Tulou's Op108 once again! When Tulou's book was first published (around 1840)m the piccolo had six keys. Since Jean-Louis Tulou (1786-1865) deals extensively with fingering charts and devotes much time to specific piccolo-related technical difficulties, Jean-Louis Beaumadier had to be selective. Therefore, he retained from Tulou's tutor only those exercises and short pieces (solos and duets) that were relevant to modern-day practice. To these, he also added other appropriate exercises for the modern piccolo.
