Schmetterlinge (Butterflies) for Flute and Clarinet by Barbara Heller
Two scores
Duration: 13:15
In 1990 Heller ofter improvised on her own or together with other musicians. The following experience formed the musical background for the “Schmetterlinge (Butterflies)”. In front of her window she watched two yellow butterflies fluttering from leaf to leaf, buzzing to and fro, separating and coming together again, flying parallel or apart. They gave her the inspiration for the musical process of this piece.
German composer Barbara Heller was born in 1936 in Ludwigshafen, where her father was an art restorer and conservator. She studied music in Mannheim and Munich and taught piano at the Mannheim Academy of Music from 1958 to 1962. Two of her notable teachers were Hans Vogt and Harold Genzmer.
