Toccata, Op39 by Cecile Chaminade
Arranged for Flute Choir by Nicholas Buonanni
Instrumentation: piccolo, 4 c flutes, alto flute, bass flute, contrabass flute
Score and parts
Dedicated to Dr. Nora Lee Garcia and the University of Central Florida Flute Studio
Although primarily known by flute players for her important Concertino, Op. 107, Cécile Chaminade was a brilliant pianist with nearly 200 compositions for the instrument published during her lifetime. This Toccata, Op. 39, is a virtuosic show-piece featuring a perpetual stream of 16th notes over a light and bubbly accompaniment. Here, it is arranged for flute choir by Nicholas Buonanni.
