Instrumentation: 3 flutes, alto flute, bass flute, contrabass flute
Score and parts
Sonata II is one of 6 Sonata’s for 2 violins, cello, and double bass.
Rossini’s six string sonatas were written and composed in just three days during the summer of 1804 when the Italian composer was just twelve years old; this was at a time when he had barely begun instruction in composition at a music school in Bologna.. These 6 sonatas, his first compositions, were performed under the backing of a rich patron in 1804. The sonatas are melodic and engaging.
